Most Instagrammable Places in the Peak District
The most instagrammable places in the Peak District, how to find them and tips on visiting to get the best photos.
The Peak District is easily one of my favourite places in the UK. It’s not too busy and the views are breath taking. There are so many secret spots that are lesser known so getting the photographs you’ve been dreaming about is so achievable! Mam Tor
This is mam tor, our first stop in the Peak District. Best visited early in the morning.Its always a challenge walking up before the sun, especially when it’s a little chilly outside. There were a surprising amount of people at the top but it still felt peaceful.
I like to think that the sunrise doesn’t care if we watch it or not. It will keep on being beautiful, even if no-one bothers to look at it. But on this particular day, we chose to look at it.
Bamford Edge
This is my favourite spot in the Peak District, Jake did all of the planning for this part of the road trip so I dint know what to expect, this place is stunning. It wasn’t too busy with walkers but there were a lot of climbers exploring the impressive cliff face.
If you know me you’ll know I love the edge, I love standing on it, it reminds me that we are so small and the world is so big. Maybe that’s why this place stayed with me.
Winnats Pass
On the way back to our favourite free camp spot we drove through Winnats Pass which we planned to visit for sunrise the next morning. So that’s what we did, and it didn’t disappoint.
We walked up one of the hills beside the famous road. it didn’t talk very long to get to the top. The views were breathtaking with the early morning sun glistening on the dewy grass.
Having the whole of Winnats Pass to ourselves was surreal after seeing it so busy the afternoon before.
Thors Cave
When we visited Thor’s cave it was during the middle part of the day during the summer holidays. It was really busy and we wish we had visited at sunrise as we did for everything else. It was still very impressive though. Just remember that if you wait long enough, you will be able to get the perfect photo.
If you follow the path around you’ll be able to climb over the top of the cave.
Chrome Hill
If you’ve got some extra time, visit Chrome Hill. The views were wonderful and it wasn’t busy as its one of the lesser hiked trails. Looking back at the photos, this Is one of my favourites from the whole of the Peak District!
Free Van Camping in the Peak District:
The Peak District is the perfect place to spend a week. During our time in this area, we camped at a free camp spot right at the base of Mam Tor. If you drive past Blue John Cavern and keep driving you’ll find this perfect little camp spot. We even had perfect 4g internet here so we could continue working online during the busy parts of the day after exploring during sunrise and sunset. Just remember to leave the place better than you found it and park sensibly so that cars can still use the carpark :)
