The ULTIMATE Mallorca Road Trip Itinerary

Mallorca, a place to lay in the sun on the beach and do absolutely nothing for a whole week... OR you could take an incredible road trip around this beautiful island. From vibrant city life in Palma to hidden coves, ancient caves, and breathtaking mountain views, we'll guide you through a week long adventure that will reveal the true essence of this Balearic gem. So, pack your bags and let's hit the road!

We are proud to have partnered with VanYou for this trip, we couldn’t imagine travelling Mallorca any other way. Exploring this island by van was an incredible experience and without the van, we would not have been able to see so many places in such a short time!

Day 1: Palma

Your Mallorca road trip begins in the vibrant capital city of Palma. Start your day by exploring the historic Old Town with its stunning architecture, quaint alleys, and the iconic La Seu Cathedral.

After a morning of sightseeing, head to the beautiful Parc de la Mar to relax by the water's edge or take a leisurely stroll, this place is also lovely in the evening as you can see the cathedral all lit up here, we saw a local musician there and we had a beautiful evening listening to Spanish guitar and enjoying the sunset.

Palma is also known for its lively food scene, so make sure to savour some local cuisine, and if you’re there are a few vegan places in town which can easily be fond on the Happy Cow app. In the evening, enjoy the city's nightlife, with numerous bars and clubs to choose from if you're into that kind of thing.

Day 2: Cala Pi and Calo Moro

On the second day, drive south to Cala Pi, a picturesque cove with crystal-clear waters and a stunning sandy beach. Spend your morning sunbathing and swimming. Walk to the far side of the beach and follow the cliff path to get a good look at the turquoise water from the endless viewpoints.

In the afternoon, make your way to S'Almonia, an amazing place to jump into the water from an impressive natural rocky bridge, or watch other people do it if jumping… There are also some really beautiful traditional houses around here, I loved walking around the little streets and imaging what it might be like to live here in this magical location!

Just a short walk away on a well maintained footpath you can access Calo del Moro. The decent down to the beach is a bit rocky and steep but easy if you take your time. This is a great spot for snorkelling. The sandy beach area is small but its so worth it if you can find a spot to put your towel.

Day 3: Cala Lombards and Parc Natural

Next, venture to the enchanting Cala Lombards, another beautiful beach known for its clear waters and natural beauty. Spend your morning unwinding by the shore or exploring the nearby village. You can also follow the path and steps to the righthand side of the beach for a nice view. This beach is one of the bigger sandy areas so plenty of space to sit down for a while.

After a relaxing morning, head to the Parc Natural de Mondragó, a nature reserve with hiking trails and diverse flora and fauna. It was a lot more busy than we expected. Because it’s a National Park I thought it would feel like a real wilderness spot, but in reality it was a tourist trap and it didn’t feel as secluded as we hoped! But the beaches were still gorgeous and the water was crystal clear.

Make sure you explore Cala Mondragó, S’Amarador and be sure to walk along the cliff on the beautiful path to Caló des Borgit. This walk was absolutely breathtaking, a must do!

Day 4: Drach Caves and Cala Mesquidas

Begin your day with a visit to the Drach Caves, one of Mallorca's most famous natural attractions. Explore the stunning underground chambers, including the mesmerizing Lake Martel, where you can enjoy a classical music concert. The concert was unlike anything i’ve ever experienced, the string quartet played aboard a row boat as it gently floated along the lake.

Afterward, head to Cala Mesquidas, a beach with golden sand and clear waters, perfect for floating around in the water or playing in the waves!

Day 5: Albercutx Watchtower, Cap de Formentor, and Mirador Es Colomer

Drive to Albercutx Watchtower for a breathtaking view of the coast and the Mediterranean Sea. It's a great spot for photos! We decided to climb the watch tower while there was an extreme wind warning, I don’t recommend doing this! However, it it IS a nice day, head up for the views! But be careful, the second step from the top is loose!

Continue your journey to Cap de Formentor, the northernmost point of the island, where you can explore rugged cliffs and enjoy panoramic vistas. If the road looks busy, try to turn around ASAP. Once you get near to the small carpark, the queue of cars can get long and you could be waiting hours for a car parking space with nowhere to turn around and head back.

Finish the day at Mirador Es Colomer, another spectacular viewpoint of the Mallorcan coastline and surrounding landscapes.

Day 6: Sa Calobra Road, Torrent de Pareis Beach, and Torrent de Pareis

Experience an adventurous drive along the winding Sa Calobra Road, which leads to the stunning Torrent de Pareis. The drive is an attraction in itself, with its hairpin turns and scenic views. This little carpark gets really busy, we took these photos at 8am!

Upon reaching Torrent de Pareis, you'll be greeted by a pristine beach surrounded by towering cliffs and a dramatic gorge. We went during a storm and the power of the water crashing against the rocks was incredible! The caves you walk through to get here were AMAZING, you must go here!

Day 7: Soller and Deia Towns

Spend your seventh day exploring the charming towns of Soller and Deia. Soller is known for its historical tram and picturesque town center. Enjoy a ride on the tram, explore the town's market, and savor the famous orange Soller ice cream. If you’re into architecture, you’ll love it here.

In the afternoon, head to Deia, an stunning village nestled in the Tramuntana Mountains. Stroll through its cobbled streets, visit the church, and take in the peaceful atmosphere.

This is exactly what comes to mind if I think of a Spanish mountain village.

Day 8: Valldemosa

Conclude your ultimate Mallorca road trip in Valldemosa, a town famous for its monastery and stunning mountain views. Take a leisurely walk through the town's charming streets, perhaps indulging in some local pastries and coffee. Don’t use your map, just keep walking and get lost within the small streets. You can tell that the people who call Valldemosa home, are very proud and keep the place well decorated with plants and flower displays.

You Can then return to Palma just a short drive away and you’re back to where you started! We stayed an extra night in Palma before our flight and stayed at The Boc City and the private room was nicer than most hotels we’ve been to. It was absolutely, had everything we could possibly need and also had a pool on the roof! The location was brilliant and it was such a high to end the trip on. 100% recommend!

Mallorca offers a diverse range of experiences, from beach relaxation to cultural exploration and natural wonders. This road trip itinerary allows you to explore the island's most captivating destinations, ensuring you make the most of your time on this beautiful Mediterranean gem.
