I think I’ve done it. I have found the perfect internet/ Wi-Fi for digital nomads. I have finally found something that will keep us connected with unlimited internet while we travel in our van around Europe for a year!
I’ve been travelling full time since 2014 and all this time I’ve been changing my SIM card in each country. This is all very well until you end up getting continuously locked out of your online banking, emails, and everything else that needs a phone number verification these days. It quickly turned into the bane of my life and I have been searching for an easier way for years.
The struggles of being in a new place, unable to speak the language, whilst trying to navigate your way around buying a SIM card are REAL.
Thankfully during the start of lockdown (March 2020), we decided to unpack our backpacks and convert a van to travel the UK and Europe in. How wonderful it was to be able to use our UK SIM cards in Europe, no worries, no stress, it really was seamless until… Brexit.
We were hit hard with new fair data usage policies and capped roaming. Thanks to our little friend Brexit, all UK SIM cards now have a mobile data fair usage policy, this means that if you use your data more abroad than you do in the UK within a 4 month period, you could either have your SIM card cancelled or pay extra fees. Not only this but your data will be capped, sometimes at 12GB per month with the best one I’ve seen being 25GB per month. However, if you bought your SIM card way before the time if Brexit you may still be able to use your SIM card just as before, its worth checking.
